Adobe has announced the launch of a new version of Flash Player 10.2. official beta release. In this new version will come with the plugin and some new features and broader hardware acceleration for video.
"We are pleased to announce the beta release of Flash Player 10.2 for Windows, Mac, and Linux is now available for download at Adobe Labs," Tom Nguyen Product Manager at Adobe, as reported by Softpedia on Thursday (12/02/2010).
Nguyen said that through this latest version, the API at Adobe will add full hardware acceleration for video content.
"Flash Player 10.2 beta introduces several enhancements. We are very excited to share, including Stage Vide, new API services to provide the best in its class, high-performance video playback across platforms," he said.
According to Stage Vide Flash Player 10.2 Beta adds full hardware support for video content. Previously, Flash 10.1 has support for hardware decoding of H.264 content, arguably the toughest part of playing videos.
The new API uses the GPU instead of CPU even to step over to his rendering, including color conversion, scale and blitting. In the best case scenario, full HD video should run smoothly. Content providers must update their video player to take advantage of the features of Stage Vide.
Meanwhile, Adobe strengthens its relationship with Google that proved Flash10.2 Beta. Because Video Stave API is supported on the TV Google and YouTube have begun to add support for it.
